One Design Architectural Services Ltd. obtained Planning permission and Building Regulations approval for extending a detached house in a designated Conservation Area to accommodate a new double garage and garden studio.

Currently under construction, the proposal which combines traditional and contemporary forms was initially regarded by the planning authority as controversial for being positioned forward of the existing house though now has been warmly received by planners and neighbours alike.

The proposal successfully conceals the building’s primary function as a garage by appearing as a landscape feature – a high garden wall which subdivides the existing land and allows the formation of a private kitchen garden to the rear.
